Describe your job in 10 words or fewer.
Listen deeply. Challenge choicefully. Embed equity. Counsel courageously. Communicate impactfully.
What do you like most about working in healthcare marketing?
Gandhi wisely stated, “It is health that is real wealth.” In healthcare marketing, I support patients, providers and the public in making informed decisions. Crafting stories that spark behavior change and enhance care experiences is deeply rewarding. Being able to contribute to better health outcomes and human well-being is a true honor.
What’s one challenge you want to solve this year?
This year, I’m focused on reimaging health equity communications in our polarized era. My goal is to meet the moment — to help organizations make the business case for health equity undeniable and its impact clear. In doing so, we can shift our focus from justification back to implementation where it’s needed most.
Pick one: In-office, hybrid or remote work? Why would that be your choice?
Remote work has been transformative for me. As someone who previously faced long commutes and frequent travel, balancing parenthood and career seemed logistically impossible. Then, during COVID, I was blessed with the gift of parenthood. Remote work has allowed me to balance family responsibilities with professional growth. It offers more quality time with family, increased flexibility, and enhanced productivity. Additionally, it’s opened opportunities to collaborate seamlessly with colleagues across different geographies, broadening perspectives and impact.

Who is your hero, and why?
My heroes are my grandmother, Ada, and Oprah Winfrey. Both overcame personal adversity to achieve success while maintaining strong values. My grandmother, also known as my first love, shaped my path. She was the first in our family to earn a college degree and work for the EEOC, Oprah was my virtual babysitter and mentor during days as a latchkey kid, and taught me invaluable life lessons. They both carry a bright light and share it generously. Their journeys from humble beginnings to success inspire me daily in my personal and professional life.
Where do you want to be, professionally and personally, 10 years from now?
Professionally, I aim to continue contributing to healthcare marketing through research, strategy, thought leadership and teaching. I also want to deepen my health equity advocacy by partnering more directly with patients and communities. Personally, I hope to be well into retirement planning, travel more frequently and one day envision opening a wellness retreat in Bali — because why not dream big?
What is your favorite piece of media? What about it resonates strongly with you?
Documentaries are my favorite. I love how they uncover untold real-life stories and factual events, offering engaging storytelling that helps me learn from the past and broaden my perspective. Documentaries connect viewers with real people and issues on a deeply human level, which inspires my approach to marketing and storytelling.
What’s one piece of advice for the future generation of leaders?
A true leader is first a learner and listener. One who studies the systemic factors that contribute to situations, listens for opportunity and has the courage to take action. That’s what we need to shape the future of healthcare.
